Embroidery: Animals

EA11: The animals depicted in this book are frequently seen in Laos. This beginner’s literacy book focuses on basic words in Hmong, English, and Lao. A book such as this one is not
commonly found in Hmong households. It is a relatively new paj ntaub concept that was
developed for marketing purposes with the tourist trade. The examples displayed here were
purchased in the Luang Prabang Night Market in 2012. The embroidery techniques utilized
involved darning and running stitches. Both the cloth and thread are of cotton material.
